Dru Chen is a singer, songwriter and producer. He has performed overseas in Singapore, Australia and the United States and receives regular airplay from their indie radio stations.
Tell us a little about who is Dru Chen?
I am a Singapore-bred Chinese-Australian, though I don’t like to conform to any stereotypes that may come with these descriptions. I’d rather experience a variety of cultures, colours, tastes and ways of life through the people I meet.
What inspires you?
At this point of time, if I’m able to put a smile on a face and channel positivity back into this world, that’s enough to motivate me to sing and make music. Funky, soulful, sexy, groove-oriented free expression – that is what inspires me.
Do you have any rituals before a gig?
I centre myself spiritually, connect with the crowd and remind myself why I am singing in the first place – to connect and uplift people.
