Red Threads. A Story That We Have Not Yet Told

On every pair of MATTER pants there is a signature stitch of two parallel red threads, a small detail only noticed by those who wear the pant. Customers have come to love this small detail, and ask us why it’s there.

There is an old adage that says an invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstances. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break.

MATTER’s red threads pays tribute to this tradition of red threads that connect the artisan partners, designers and customers that form the #mattertribe community.

This May marks two years since MATTER took its first step on the journey to make where and why something is made, matter. It’s not been an easy ride, but what keeps us going is knowing that our purpose gains strength with every handmade #matterprints piece that we send out, and every one of you, our most loyal customers, partners and ambassadors, that we connect with.
Since founding in 2014, we’ve solidified our mission to create impact through connecting designers and artisan partners, telling stories of heritage textiles, their provenance and process. We’re on track to provide 10 times more days of artisan employment than in our first year, we now have #mattertribe members in over 35 countries, and have fostered 12 designer collaborations with 5 artisan communities.

This is just the beginning.

These parallel lines signify a path and journey, two lines forever extending with each milestone we take towards expanding our mission. A thread that runs though everyone in the MATTER family, celebrating each and every journey and adventure we take. Connecting each and every #MATTERtribe member in heart and values.
Thank you for walking with us.
